Originally the feast day of Patrick, patron saint of Ireland, the holiday has come to celebrate Irish culture in general, with a special emphasis on shamrocks, parades, and lots of green fashion. But at Naturalizer, ever since we launched the Nude Collection in delicious shades like Chai, Espresso and Caramel, we’ve had coffee on the brain. So, now that St. Patrick’s Day is upon us, our thoughts immediately went to Irish coffee. To celebrate, we are putting a sweet twist on this traditional favorite. Small servings make these pudding shots ideal for passing at parties, and their garnish of espresso powder will keep you caffeinated throughout the festivities. Enjoy, and Erin Go Bragh!
2 Tbsp. cornstarch
1/4 c. plush 2 Tbsp. brown sugar, packed
Pinch of salt
2 c. heavy cream
1 Tbsp. espresso powder
1/4 c. Irish whiskey
1 c. whipped cream
Whisk the cornstarch, sugar, and salt together in a medium saucepan. Stir in the heavy cream. Bring the mixture to a bubble over medium-high heat, whisking constantly until thick and smooth. Remove from heat and whisk in espresso powder and whiskey.
Divide the evenly between 8 classic shot glasses. Chill for 2 hours. When ready to serve, top with a dollop of whipped cream and a dusting of espresso powder. Serves 8.
