Few tastes take us straight into summer like the margarita. Its beachy combination of salt and sugar recalls long afternoons in the sand. And whether served on the rocks or frozen, its ice cold temperature is as refreshing as a blast of A/C on a sweltering day. The drink’s bright color–thanks to a squeeze of blood orange– adds a tart twist to our cocktail hours and reminds us of our striped Reilly sandal, a summer-ready style in its own right. Lastly, tomorrow is Cinco de Mayo! And what better way to celebrate than with this blend of Mexican tequila, agave nectar, and lime? Enjoy the recipe featured below tomorrow (or tonight!) and don’t forget the paper umbrella!
We paired our blood orange margarita with a breezy blouse and soft denim, a classic Panama hat, and, of course, the Reilly sandal crafted from festive striped fabric with a jute and cork heel.
2 oz. tequila
3/4 cup tripe sec
1 oz. blood orange juice, freshly squeezed
Coarse pink Himalayan salt to rim glass
Lime and orange wedges to garnish
Pour tequila, triple sec, and blood orange juice into a cocktail shaker and fill with ice. Shake vigorously until very cold then pour over ice in a glass rimmed with lime juice and salt. Garnish with lime and orange wedges, and serve. Recipe makes one drink.
