Laura Gummerman, creator of style blog The Band Wife and legit band wife just sent us an update on her summer travels, including photos of a chic look she wore while visiting Detroit. Pink has been a hot color this summer, and we think Laura’s mix of edgy black and the bubblegum hue look incredible together—especially with those Dutch braids and trendy mirrored shades! Best part? Our Kail slip-on is beyond comfortable so Laura didn’t suffer at the hands of fashion. But we’ll let her tell you all about it.
What took you to Detroit, and what did you love most about the city?
I was visiting my husband Todd, who plays for MUTEMATH and is on tour all summer. It’s hard to get time together during tour season, so I take a lot of trips to see him and get quality time. While it’s really fun to explore new cities, spending time with him is always the best part of being out!
How did you style the Kail slip-on while you were there?
I decided to pair the Kail with a casual T-shirt dress and a cropped black leather jacket on this trip. The black jacket helps balance out a dark shoe and lets the pink dress be the pop of color. The Kail’s low vamp also helps your legs look as long as possible in a flat sneaker!
What activities did you try in Detroit, and how did the shoes get you through them?
Todd had an arena show that day in a pretty area right outside the city. Since we had a couple of hours of downtime, we took walks all around the venue and ended up near a really pretty golf course as the sun set. You never know what your day will bring on tour, so it’s good to have a great walking shoe. It lets you take advantage of whatever adventure comes up!
