After a summer full of mangos, acai berries and other tropical fruits, our smoothie palates have lately been craving something more inspired by fall. This weekend, while lacing up BZees’ new Horizon boot (see below) before a hike, we got the inspiration we needed in the shoe’s bold green sole: a green blend of antioxidants (to survive flu season) and energy (to survive the holidays) with a dash of cinnamon and maple syrup to make it timely. The apples, spices and syrup take you straight into an autumnal state of mind, while spinach and kale add earthy flavor–plus lots of vitamins, of course. One sip of this smoothie, and you’ll be wishing it was November all year long.
MAKE YOUR OWN FALL SMOOTHIE:
1 Granny Smith apple
1 handful spinach
1 handful chopped kale
1 tbsp chopped ginger
1/2 cup unsweetened almond milk
1 tbsp maple syrup
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1 handful ice cubes
Mix ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth. Garnish with a cinnamon stick, and enjoy immediately!
